Looking back on the past decade, I realize that a single year marked a major turning point in my life, dividing it into a "before" and "after" in so many ways. I had just left a 19-year-long relationship, without a clear idea of what came next. The world I had known, the family I had envisioned, and the career I had worked towards had all come to an end. It was time to rebuild.
At
that time, I was raising two children and facing a lot of struggles with my
ex-husband. I took an office job that I didn’t enjoy, and after paying for
legal fees and rebuilding my life, I found myself with a decent amount of
assets. But even with all that, something was missing, and I knew I needed a
fresh start.
The Beginning of a
New Path
Initially,
adult work seemed like a
temporary solution. My partner and I would create content together in the
mornings before going to work or on weekends when our children were at their
dad’s. We found that there was an audience for genuine connections, and the
idea of sharing our real, loving relationship sparked interest.
At
first, I was shy and unsure of myself, especially when it came to being in
front of the camera. I was nervous and would often freeze when my partner left
the frame for a moment. But, as time passed, I gained confidence and began to
embrace the work. However, my journey took unexpected turns that made adult
work a necessity for me and my family.
Challenges and
Personal Struggles
As
life continued, my partner and I faced significant health challenges. My
partner was diagnosed with cancer twice within a span of three years. Alongside
this, we faced the challenges of raising a child diagnosed with autism at the
age of two, requiring us to work with specialists and therapists regularly.
Juggling these responsibilities was overwhelming, especially as I was still
trying to balance everything, including my role as a mother and caregiver.
At
one point, I was laid off from my full-time office job, which left me in a
financial bind. The stress and constant crises made it difficult to focus on
anything but surviving day by day. I was overwhelmed, but in that moment, I
realized that adult work, which had started as a temporary solution, was now
something I relied on to support my family.
Finding Strength in
Adversity
There
were moments when I felt completely drained, especially when my
responsibilities seemed insurmountable. But despite all the challenges, I found
strength in the process of rebuilding. I discovered new sources of income,
created opportunities, and, most importantly, learned how to balance the
demands of my family, personal life, and work. The lessons I’ve learned have
helped me grow both personally and professionally.
